SUSPECTED HERDSMEN KILL SIX PERSONS IN GASSOL LGA OF TARABA
Assailants suspected to be Herdsmen have killed six people including a popular farmer at Jauro Manu village, Gassol LGA of Taraba State.
Sources say the assailants, five in number, invaded the house of the farmer, shot him in front of his home before opening fire on five others who were playing cards in front of the house.
Multiple reports indicate that the herdsmen had attacked the house of the farmer in September 2021 but were met with heavy resistance from Locals.
It is believed that the attack was in reprisal to the previous killing of suspected herders in Gassol LGA.
Recall, on December 2, 2021, Eons Intelligence reported that 11 persons were killed while many others sustained injuries following an inter-tribal clash between Tiv and Fulani locals in Batanje community, Gassol LGA of Taraba.
The incident occurred on Wednesday midnight around 1am, December 1.
Sources disclose that the clash erupted after a Fulani man was robbed and killed by a Tiv resident while the deceased was on his way back from Sensani, a market in Gassol LGA.
The death of the Fulani man led to a reprisal on Tiv villagers, as 10 locals were killed and many houses were razed during the clash.
In recent weeks, Taraba has witnessed extreme violence accompanied with killings and kidnappings. On November 17, Eons Intelligence reported that suspected Ambazonian separatists from Cameroon unleashed mayhem in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State, killing a Monarch and setting property ablaze.
