US ADDS NIGERIA TO RELIGIOUS FREEDOM BLACKLIST
The United States has placed Nigeria on a religious freedom blacklist.
In a statement released by the US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo on Monday, Nigeria was included among “countries of concern under the International Religious Freedom Act of 1998 for engaging systematic, ongoing, egregious religious freedom violations.”
This is the First time Nigeria, which has a delicate balance between Muslims and Christians would be included in the list.
Other countries included in religious freedom blacklist by the US are Burma, China, Eritrea, Iran, Nigeria, the DPRK, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan.
Today the U.S. designates Burma, China, Eritrea, Iran, Nigeria, the DPRK, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan as countries of concern under the International Religious Freedom Act of 1998 for engaging systematic, ongoing, egregious religious freedom violations.
