LAGOS POLICE NABS 4 NOTORIOUS TRAFFIC ROBBERS

Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad have arrested 4 notorious traffic robbers.


The suspects were arrested by the surveillance team of the agency on Thursday around the Abiola Gardens area of Ojota in Lagos. 


The suspects Adewale Ismailia, 30, Chinadu Okafor, 26, Tote Victor, 19, and Abdulahi Olalere (20) were caught in the act by the RRS surveillance team who disguised as stranded commuters whose vehicles developed a mechanical fault around 6.30 am beside Abiola Gardens. 


"Our surveillance team pretended as if their vehicle had mechanical problem early morning (6:30 am) beside 'Abiola Garden' within 5 minutes these criminals came out with dangerous weapons demanding for their wallets and other valuables before they were all apprehended" CSP Olayinya, the RRS Lagos Commander disclosed.

He added that the surveillance team were deployed to monitor the entire Ikorodu axis following series of complaints that miscreants regularly rob commuters on their way to work in the early mornings around Owode Onirin, Mile 12, Ketu, and Ojota axis.


Police say one of the arrested suspects, Abdulahi Olalere a.k.a 'Orobo', confessed to belonging to a robbery gang that specializes in attacking and robbing innocent motorists of their belongings in the early hour along Ikorodu Road, including the early morning robbery attack on innocent motorists around China Town and tipper garage by Ketu area of Ikorodu Road on Tuesday, 26th of March, 2021.

 

Orobo was also recently released from prison where he served 6 months jailed term for similar robbery incidents last year.
