NIGERIA MILITARY KILLS OVER 41 BOKO HARAM/ISWAP TERRORISTS (PHOTOS)

At least 41 Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists were killed by Troops of Operation Lafiya Dole on Saturday when the criminals attempted to invade Monguno town. 


According to the Nigeria Army, the insurgents with several gun trucks and foot soldiers tried to besiege the town. However, they were met with the military's superior firepower. 


The military, using a combination of fighter jets and foot soldiers, severely dealt with the insurgents forcing them to flee in disarray.

The unrelenting troops pursued them and continued to unleash hell on the terrorists.

While sweeping through their escape route, the Army discovered 41 bodies of the terrorists. 


The Troops also captured the following: 10 AK 47 rifles, 2 rocket-propelled gun 7 tubes, 8 rocket-propelled 7 bombs, one general-purpose machine gun, 2 PKT machine guns, one Dane gun, one SPG 9 gun, and one Dushka Machine gun. 


Other items retrieved from the terrorists are 2 anti-aircraft guns, one anti-aircraft gun barrel, 4 SPG 9 bombs, one hand grenade, one toolbox, 2 transistor radios, 49 rounds of anti-aircraft gun ammunition, 386 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition and 7 Gun Trucks. 


Two soldiers lost their lives during the battle, while three others sustained injuries. 

The Army says the wounded soldiers are responding to treatment at the military medical facility.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur Buratai, has commended the Troops of Operation Lafiya

Dole for their "resilience and bravery" in subduing the Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists that attacked Monguno town on Saturday, June 13. 


Eloi Fillion, the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Nigeria, said the NGO evacuated 16 civilians who were injured by the terrorists' attack, and they are currently receiving treatment in Maiduguri.
