SEVEN MORE STUDENTS TEST POSITIVE FOR CORONAVIRUS IN GOMBE
Seven more students in Gombe State has tested positive for COVID-19.
This brings the total number of students who have tested positive to eight.
The State's Commissioner for Education, Dr Habu Dahiru, made the announcement in a statement on Wednesday, August 19th, 2020.
Dahiru said the seven students attend the Government Girls Secondary School Doma, Gombe State.
The Commissioner said the students have been taking their West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) from an isolation centre.
He revealed the State Government conducted 1,100 tests on students upon resumption.
“So far we have tested 1,100 students, out of which the first case is from Government Science Secondary School.
“We have identified another set of students; we only got the result yesterday. Seven of them have been found to be positive. We are making arrangements to evacuate them to the isolation centre.
“They will not miss their papers because they tested positive. The testing became easier because the governor approved 120m to establish a molecular laboratory," the Commissioner said.
