POLICE RECOVER 23 ILLEGAL FIREARMS FROM MISCREANTS IN BAUCHI STATE

In the unrelenting efforts of mopping up the illicit activities in the society, the operatives of Bauchi State Police Command have recovered another 23 illegal firearms and ammunition from miscreants in the State.


This is following the directives of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba to curb the proliferation of small and light weapons in the state.

The operation mop-up conducted by the command across the state has resulted in the recovery of twenty-three (23) illegal firearms from the hands of miscreants, which include; nine (9) AK47 rifles, seven (7) assorted locally-made firearms, one (1) Light Assault Rifle (LAR), Six (6) Dane guns, and eighteen (18) rifle magazines.

Additional weapons recovered are total of eighty-seven (87) rounds of live ammunition of different calibers, out of which were; Twenty-two (22) rounds of live 7x62.51mm NATO ammunition, Nine (58) rounds of live 7x62.39mmammunitions, Seven (7) 9mm live ammunitions, Four (4) machetes, (1) knife and three (3) military camouflages.

 

However, the milestone was achieved by the command in conjunction with the strategic and synergy operations with other sister security agencies and through community partnership, which is known as community policing scheme.

Following tireless and intelligence operations of the command, there had been an addendum of logistics, to heighten water-tight security to actualize serenity of the forthcoming gubernatorial and state assembly election, as the mopping-up of illicit firearms continues.
